While watching this movie I made an immediate conneciton to my mom who works at Woodrow Wilson Middle School here in Terre haute. As if the irony in the name of the school itself wasn't enough, my mom's role as a teahcer in the school is all to similar to Ms. Gruwell. She was a 5th grade teacher at a well respected elementary school for many years but decided to make a change this year. It is her first time dealing with students of similar curcumstances to Freedom Writers, but like Ms. Gruwell, she comes home and raves on about how much she cares for her students and how much she wants them to succeed.

This was the first time I watched this movie and I would have to say I fell in love with it. From the cast to the storyline, it has become one of my favorites. I loved the idea of the students sharing their stories through writing because I think it helps get your thoughts out. I thought that the characters were realistic in the movie and it gave a good insight on what people do go through on a daily basis. I thought that the story was inspirational to any audience because it helped people realize everyone has a story to share.
Freedom Writers was a great film that many students and instructors can relate to. For me the movie was an eye opener. I see how all races struggle with issues within their neighborhoods and school. It was nice to see students stand up for what they wanted and make it happen. A lot of schools back in my city (Chicago) face the same issues. I never faced issues like this because I attended a Charter school where everything was fine. Ms. Gruwell and her students made sacrifices to enhance their writing abilities and that to me was powerful. This is one of my best movies. Showed me there is a way out and better opportunities but if you want it you have to go get it.

I thought Freedom Writers was a very inspirational movie. I was really interested in watching a film that depicts an example of an issue that is present in today's society. I especially enjoyed the fact that teaching was not just a job for Ms. Gruwell, it was about doing what she loves and helping the students.

I thought freedom writers was a very inspirational movies because Freedom writers focuses on moral values, urging young people to do the right thing. The students gained knowledge about the truth and get higher moral values, and then applied what they learned to their own lives and the people around them.

This movie didn’t have boring moment in it at all. It started with action, that would have never been guessed. All through the movie things remained spontaneous, which makes movies better in my opinion. Most of the actors in the movie did a great job actually becoming their character. I love how the film gave a background of each of the charcter’s lives to help the audience better understand them more and their motives. Some movie skip those past experiences of the characters, which confuses the audience. This film didn’t fail to entertain me. Overall inspire me to appreciate the little things in my life.

I thought freedom writers was a very moving experience. It depicted the realism in life outside of school and how hard it could be coming up in a rough environment. Ms. Gruwell extended her hand to her students and in return they trusted her with their true stories of how their lives really were and it helped them immensely.
In my opinion, Freedom Writers is one of the best films produced in our generation, and I believe that for a number of reasons. Number one, because the stories of the individuals in the film are actual events that actually happened it makes it easier for audiences to relate to it. Seeing the characters change in a positive way and excel throughout the movie also produces a sense of motivation and encouragement for the audience as well. This movie is a film that can be watched repeatedly and enjoyed each time it’s viewed.
